Cynthia Torres is a Los Angeles native. Cynthia has worked in the field of residential remodeling for 18 years, with a focus on kitchen design. Over the last year Cynthia has transitioned into working in supporting caregivers of foster and probation youth South Los Angeles, Compton and Watts, as a Parent Partner at a long established mental health agency in the Exposition Park area. Cynthia’s son has been a consumer with SCLARC for 7 years. Advocating on policies that affect the developmental disabilities community has become a passion for Cynthia which has taken her to the state capital to meet with elected officials. Cynthia has completed an array of training on special education, parental and student rights. Cynthia finds it fulfilling in being able to support other parents in the community as they navigate agencies while seeking much needed support for their young and adult children with specific needs. Having lived near the beach for 15 years when she needs some grounding she goes to the beach and enjoys the sounds and smells of the ocean. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her children, being creative, crafty, and spending time with friends.
