Erin Garcia de Jesus is a seasoned science communicator with extensive experience in writing and research. Currently a Staff Writer at Science News Magazine since January 2020, Erin previously held multiple science writing internships, including roles at the American Geophysical Union, National Museum Of Natural History, Nature Research, and Stanford University. Erin holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Washington, where research focused on the evolution of apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme in primates. Additional experience includes a Research Technician position at Case Western Reserve University and a research scholarship at New Mexico State University, complemented by a Master of Science in Science Communication from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
