Shannon Olson began their career in 1989 as a Calendar Clerk at the Oklahoma House of Representatives. In 2009, they moved to Science Museum Oklahoma, where they served as a Staff Engagement Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, and Executive Assistant.

Shannon Olson began their educational journey at Choctaw High School from 1984 to 1986. Shannon then attended the University of Oklahoma from 1986 to 1989, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication.
