Beth Shafer, PhD, MA, MPhil, currently serves as the Chief Business Officer at Scholar Rock and operates as a Venture Partner and Strategic Advisor at Mubadala Capital. With extensive experience in business development within the pharmaceutical sector, Beth held key roles including Chief Business Officer and Advisor at Voyager Therapeutics and Vice President & Head of Business Development at Takeda, where significant contributions transformed R&D therapeutic pipelines. Beth has also been involved with various companies as a board member and has held several senior positions at Roche, leading deal teams and managing strategic licensing transactions. Educationally, Beth holds a PhD in Biology with a focus on Neuroscience from UC San Diego, and both an MPhil and an MA in Cellular and Molecular Biophysics with a concentration in Neuroscience from Columbia University, complemented by a BA in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Rutgers University.
