Yi Pan currently serves as a Software Development Manager at Amazon, overseeing the development of state-of-the-art multilingual and multimodal large language models (LLMs) since August 2014. Key contributions include optimizing LLM infrastructure through advanced techniques like Supervised Finetuning and Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback, as well as building scalable frameworks for training extensive models on GPU clusters. Yi Pan has also led projects focused on enhancing the multimodal user experience and driving pricing analytics improvements within retail systems. Prior experience includes roles as an AI Research Engineer involved in the Alexa Prize and various software development positions that utilized machine learning and distributed systems to optimize vendor and profitability issues. Educational background includes advanced degrees in Archaeology and Anthropology from the University of Washington and Sichuan University, with a strong emphasis on archaeological information science and landscape archaeology. Additionally, Yi Pan is currently a Venture Fellow at Scale Asia Ventures.
