Geir Bråten has a diverse work experience, starting in 2000 when they worked as a Senior Auditor at KPMG. In 2004, they joined Bilfinger Industrier Norge AS as the Chief Accountant, before being promoted to the role of CFO in 2007. Their responsibilities included overseeing the company's Finance department, including accounting, payroll, treasury, and budgeting. In 2014, Bråten joined Flux Group AS as the CFO and Group Controller. Geir held these positions until 2020 when they joined SAR AS as the CFO.

Geir Bråten began their education at Sunndal Junior High School, where they studied from 1992 to 1995. After completing their junior high education, they attended Trondheim Business School from 1995 to 1998. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on financial management. Following their undergraduate studies, Geir went on to pursue higher education at Bodø Graduate School of Business from 1998 to 2000. Here, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in International Business.
