Esther Beckman has over 35 years of law enforcement experience, currently serving as Sergeant of Sex Crimes and Detective Sergeant at the Santa Cruz County Sheriff Department since November 2014. Beckman also holds the position of Patrol Sergeant, a role started in July 2010, and previously served as Person's Detective and Property Detective, focusing on various crime investigations. Roles included crisis negotiation and leadership positions within different teams. A background in corrections includes supervision and budget preparation as a Correctional Supervisor and Correctional Officer from November 1988 to July 1997. Esther Beckman earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute & University between 2010 and 2011 and completed high school education at Independence High School from 1981 to 1985.
