Sebastian Markmiller is a Group Leader in RNA Biology at Sanford Laboratories for Innovative Medicines since October 2023. Prior to this, Sebastian held various senior roles at Trotana, Inc., including Senior Director and Director of Biology from July 2021 to April 2023. Sebastian’s academic journey includes a notable tenure at UC San Diego as an Assistant Project Scientist and Postdoc from December 2011 to July 2021. Earlier experience includes a post-doctoral fellowship and PhD student role at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research between January 2007 and September 2011, as well as serving as Managing Director at Scyagenics, which received recognition for innovation. Sebastian’s career began at Santa Cruz Biotechnology as a Technical Service Representative from June 2002 to September 2005. Educational background includes a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Melbourne, an MSc in Molecular and Cell Biology, and a BSc in Molecular Biotechnology from Heidelberg University, alongside completing the Abitur at Friedrich-Dessauer Gymnasium.
