Julie Smith, RN, MPH has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Julie'smost recent position is as the Executive Director of Value Strategy & Clinical Operations at Sanford Health Plan, which they started in December 2021. Prior to that, they served as the 2020-2021 Becky Nelson Leadership Fellow at Sanford Health from 2020 to 2022. Julie also held various roles at The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, including Senior Director of Nursing & Clinical Services and Director of Nursing and Clinical Services for HCBS. Julie has experience in home health management and clinical consulting for assisted living communities. Before joining Good Samaritan Society, Julie worked as a National RN Case Manager at Nuclear Care Partners and as a Registered Nurse at Avera McKennan Hospital. Julie started their career as a Graduate Student Worker at the Minnesota Department of Health, where they focused on disease surveillance and prevention. Overall, Julie brings a range of expertise and leadership to their current role at Sanford Health Plan.

Julie Smith, RN, MPH completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English & Psychology at the University of South Dakota from 2003 to 2008. Julie then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse at South Dakota State University from 2010 to 2011. Julie furthered their education by obtaining a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a focus on Environmental Health and Infectious Disease from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health from 2008 to 2010.
