Jay Tortona, CFA, CFP has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry. Jay is currently employed at Sandy Spring Bank as a VP/Senior Portfolio Manager since May 2017. Prior to that, Jay worked at Goldman Sachs as a VP/Investment Professional from February 2010 to May 2017. Jay also served as a VP/Lead Portfolio Manager at Wells Fargo from 2003 to 2010. Before joining Wells Fargo, Jay was employed at Commerce Wealth Advisors as a VP/Senior Portfolio Manager from 2001 to 2003. Jay started their career at PNC as a VP/Portfolio Manager from 1995 to 2001 and later worked at Merrill Lynch as a Financial Consultant from 1992 to 1995.

In 1988, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in General Business from the University of Maryland. Prior to that, they attended St. John's College High School from 1984 to 1988. In 1998, they earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification from the CFA Institute. Later, in 2002, they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management from the Fox School of Business at Temple University. In 2006, they obtained a certificate in Investment Institute from The Wharton School. Continuing their education, they earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification from the CFP Board in 2017. In the same year, they also completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Cybersecurity Policy and Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. In 2020, they obtained a certificate in Behavioral Finance from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. Moreover, Jay has obtained additional certifications, including COVID-19 Contact Tracing from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in May 2020, and a second Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification in August 2017 from the CFP Board.
