John Hall is an accomplished investor with extensive experience in venture capital and corporate finance. Currently an investor and former Board of Directors member at Sand Hill Angels since January 2011, John specializes in angel investments in technology and life sciences. Previously, as a general partner at Horizon Ventures from March 2000 to December 2021, John managed three venture funds totaling $175 million, focusing on early-stage investments across various sectors including hardware, software, and medical technology. John's earlier roles include serving as a general partner at Newtek Ventures from March 1989 to January 1999, where two venture capital funds were managed with an impressive annual return of over 26% IRR, and as CFO and Founder of Cadnetix from May 1982 to June 1988. Additionally, John held significant financial positions at Intel and Syntex Pharmaceuticals. Educationally, John earned a Ph.D. in Finance from Santa Clara University and both a B.S. and MBA in Accounting and Finance from San Jose State University.
