Wendy Lau has a diverse background in civil rights and equity work. Wendy'smost recent role was as Deputy Director in the Office of Civil Rights at the San Mateo County Transit District, where they managed diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, investigated discrimination complaints, and drafted policies related to workplace harassment and inclusivity. Prior to this, they worked as a Title VI Administrator at the same company, where they developed and implemented federally required Title VI Programs, conducted service and fare analyses to ensure equity, and updated policies for public participation and accessibility. Earlier in their career, Wendy held various roles at organizations such as The Women's Foundation of California, the Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence, and the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum, where they focused on topics such as language access, cultural responsiveness, and Title VI compliance. Wendy'sexpertise also extends to legal internships and program coordination in the legal field. overall, Wendy has a strong background in civil rights, policy development, and equity initiatives.

Wendy Lau completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Washington from the year 2000 to 2004. Following that, they pursued a J.D. degree in Law from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, which they obtained from 2007 to 2010.

Wendy also obtained various additional certifications, including a Transit Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Certificate from the University of the Pacific in August 2022. Wendy also received a Sake Adviser certification from the Sake School of America in September 2021. Furthermore, Wendy completed Workplace EEO Investigator Training/MD-110 Compliance Training from AMEDIATE LLC in February 2021 and acquired a Transit and Paratransit Management Certificate from the University of the Pacific in July 2020.
