Kate Swelstad, CMA, is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in accounting and management within the non-profit sector. Currently serving as Controller at San Francisco SPCA since March 2014, Kate has held various roles including Senior Accountant and Accountant, focusing on accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger reconciliation, and payroll. Prior to this, Kate was the Supervisor of Purchasing and Inventory at Pets Unlimited, managing accounts payable and daily cash flow from September 2003 to April 2014. Early career experience includes a Senior Zookeeper position at the Detroit Zoological Institute, where Kate oversaw the care of large African birds. Kate holds a Certificate in Accounting from UC Berkeley Extension and a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Michigan.
