Rodrigo Alvarenga Vilela is the CEO of Samarco. Rodrigo has previously worked as the COO of Anglo American's Iron Ore Business in Brazil, as well as the Director of Operations for Copper in South America for Vale. Rodrigo has also been a part of the technical, commercial, and finance committees for Samarco, representing BHP Billiton's interests in the joint venture with Vale.
Rodrigo Alvarenga Vilela graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in social management. Rodrigo then went on to earn their MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. After working in business administration and management for a number of years, they decided to return to school to study sustainability at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Upon completing their studies, they took a position as a sustainability manager at a large corporation.
