Mehamed Abdi is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in community outreach, mentorship, and research. Currently serving as the Vice-President of Community Outreach for the African Student’s Association at Saint Louis University, Mehamed has initiated volunteer programs and represented the group on the Diversity and Leadership Cabinet. In addition to this role, Mehamed has worked as a Student Assistant and Patient Liaison, ensuring the comfort of campus residents and facilitating patient interactions at the Health Resource Center. As the Director of Mentorship for Missouri Young African Professionals, Mehamed oversees mentorship initiatives aimed at first-generation and refugee students. Mehamed also serves as a mentor at the International Institute of St. Louis, guiding high school students through their college applications. Prior research experience includes a position as a Research Assistant at Washington University School of Medicine, contributing to significant projects in the fields of Hematology, Oncology, and Molecular Biology. Mehamed holds a Bachelor's degree in Investigative Medical Science and Sociology from Saint Louis University.
