Darren Johnston has extensive experience in the engineering sector, currently serving as the Saica Paper PM11 Operations Manager at Saica Group since January 2013, overseeing all production and utilities departments at the Manchester paper mill. Previous roles at Saica Group include Electrical & Automation Manager, where Darren led the electrical and automation systems as well as maintenance and power plant departments, and Energy & Utilities Manager, responsible for the operation and maintenance of various energy facilities. Prior to joining Saica Group, Darren worked at SSE plc from August 2007 to January 2013, where responsibilities included Turbine Team Leader and Electrical Systems Team Leader, managing critical electrical infrastructures and project implementations. Darren began a career at Akzo Nobel as an Electrical Engineer before advancing to EC&I Maintenance Supervisor. Educational qualifications include a BEng in Electrical Engineering from The Manchester Metropolitan University and an HND in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from North Trafford College.
