James Brown, Jr. is an experienced educator and academic intervention specialist with a diverse background in tutoring, instruction, and program coordination. Currently serving as an AmeriCorps Academic Intervention Specialist at Safe Passages since August 2019, James provides 1-on-1 and small group academic support, mentors students, and collaborates with teachers and program coordinators. Previous roles include tutoring at TakeLessons, working as a Teacher Associate at Citizen Schools, and holding instructional positions at the YMCA and other organizations. James holds an Associate Degree in General Curriculum from Merritt College and is committed to fostering student success through individualized support and engaging educational activities.
