Douglas Ray has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Douglas started their career as an Accounts Payable Manager at Automatic Building Controls, where they oversaw invoice entry and managed vendor aging and cash flow. Douglas then moved on to become an Accounting Supervisor at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, where they supervised a staff and implemented automated accounting processes. Douglas also worked at the US Navy Reserve as a Senior Enlisted Leader, where they were responsible for managing enlisted personnel and unit operations. At Career Education Corporation, they held roles as a Staff Accountant and later as an Accounting Supervisor, where they produced financial statements and supervised a team of accountants. Douglas was also the Director of Finance at the Chicago High School for the Arts, where they managed finance and operations. Currently, they are serving as the Director of Finance and Operations at the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.
Douglas Ray obtained their Associate of Arts (AA) degree in General Studies from Harper College, which they attended from 1988 to 1990. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting from Roosevelt University. Douglas attended Roosevelt University from 2001 to 2005. Lastly, Douglas Ray earned a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Roosevelt University, completing their studies from 2016 to 2018.
