Luke Gilson has a diverse work experience that spans over 10 years. Luke began their career in 2011 as an Associate Editor at The Writers Network. Luke then moved on to become the Editor-in-Chief at New York Pudding. In 2012, they joined Zola Books as a Product Director, then a Product Manager, and finally an Assistant Content Manager. In 2016, they worked as a Freelance Developer, a Developer at Union Crate, and a Full Stack Developer at EnerKnol. In 2018, they joined Condé Nast as a Software Engineer 1 and 2, and in 2021 they were hired as an Engineering Manager and Software Engineer at Rune Labs. Throughout their career, Luke has designed and built recommendation pipelines, APIs, ingestion pipelines, text search, text extraction/OCR, web scrapers, a web frontend, NLP libraries, and a ‘Paypal for authors’ product. Luke has also managed the development of mobile apps, web apps, API services, and ETL systems, and maintained the infrastructure of SQL databases, Elasticsearch clusters, Kubernetes clusters, and EC2 servers.

Luke Gilson has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from New York University, which they obtained between 2008 and 2012. Prior to this, they attended Wooster School.
