Alison Brown has extensive experience in the publishing industry. Alison currently holds the position of Head of Publishing and Scientific Engagement at the Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS), a role they have held since November 2019. Prior to this, they served as Head of Publishing at RMetS starting in June 2018.

Before joining RMetS, Alison worked at Springer Healthcare for a decade. Alison began as the Journals Publishing Director in January 2010 and later became the Editorial Director. In this role, they led the launch and management of a collection of rapid publication open access journals. Alison also oversaw the growth of the book commissioning program at Springer Healthcare.

Alison's publishing career began at Blackwell Publishing in 2000, where they held various roles including Journal Publishing Manager and Journal Marketing Manager. Alison then worked at Complete Medical Communications as an Account Manager before joining Springer Healthcare Communications as a Publishing Editor and Marketing Manager.

Alison Brown obtained their BSC and PhD degrees in Biology and Environmental Science from The Manchester Metropolitan University, where they studied from 1989 to 1999. Prior to that, they attended Leeds Girls High School from 1978 to 1989. In 2018, Alison also obtained a certification in Project Management Simplified from LinkedIn.
