Melanie works with academics at Rothamsted Research's North Wyke site in Devon to develop closer links with farming and regional stakeholders. She promotes the Institute's research in grassland livestock systems and ensures that the work is in line with the major challenges facing the livestock sector as it strives to intensify sustainably in the face of rising global food demand and climate change. Melanie also helps to support academics in identifying and applying for research funding opportunities; she is the point of contact for those in the farming and environmental sectors who are looking to establish new links with academics at North Wyke. Melanie has a background in biological sciences, and she worked in ecological research and conservation before joining Rothamsted Research in 2015. Melanie has since developed strong links with partners in the farming sector, and she facilitates the two-way exchange of information to ensure that the institute’s research can be of greatest relevance and impact. Melanie supports the North Wyke Research Advisory Group, a high profile team of key farming and stakeholder representatives who help to inform the research being undertaken at North Wyke and to ensure that it has the maximum impact on the wider farming sector.
