Shannon O'Callaghan began their work experience in 2002 as a Senior Vice President at Lehman Brothers. They then worked as a Director at Barclays Capital from 2008 to 2010. In 2010, they joined CLSA as a Managing Director but only held the role for a short period before moving to Nomura Securities International, where they also served as a Managing Director from 2010 to 2014. O'Callaghan then joined UBS as a Managing Director from 2014 to 2017. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President of Finance at Roper Technologies, Inc., which they have held since 2017.

Shannon O'Callaghan completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Boston College in 1993. Afterward, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Sociology/Political Economy from the same institution, graduating in 1999. Shannon then went on to complete their Master of Business Administration degree in Financial Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 2002.
