Elaine Chen, PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of science and research. Elaine started their career in 2016 as a Biological Science Aid at the USDA, where they gained valuable experience in laboratory work. In 2017, they participated in the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) at NYU Langone Medical Center, conducting research on the toxins secreted by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.

Moving forward, Elaine worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis and Immunologies at Texas A&M Health Science Center from 2016 to 2017. Here, they focused on engineering DARPins that can bind and neutralize toxins from C. difficile strains.

In 2017, Elaine also served as a Biomedical Microbiology Teacher's Assistant at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences.

Elaine joined Biodesix, Inc. as a Development Intern in 2018, where they gained hands-on experience in the development of biomedical products. Elaine then interned at Eli Lilly and Company as an Intern, further expanding their knowledge and skills in the pharmaceutical industry.

Elaine pursued their graduate studies at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where they held various roles. As a Graduate Student in Rotations, they worked with Dr. Stephen W. Fesik in the Department of Biochemistry, focusing on the cloning, expression, and purification of E3 ligases for crystallography and NMR screening. Later, they joined the lab of James E. Crowe, Jr., M. as a Graduate Student - Thesis Lab and completed their PhD thesis.

In 2021, Elaine worked as a Graduate Student Intern at AstraZeneca, gaining industry experience in a pharmaceutical research setting.

Elaine's most recent work experience includes roles at AlivaMab Discovery Services, where they served as a Consultant in 2022, and Rondo Therapeutics, where they currently hold the position of Scientist I since August 2022.
