ROKA is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead and evolve our finance and accounting functions. This role is critical in connecting our financial results to the company’s broader strategic objectives, influencing business decisions, and supporting the long-term success of ROKA. For a high-performing candidate, this role offers the potential to grow into financial and strategic planning responsibilities with a pathway to the CFO position. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Drive financial decision-making by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing robust policies and controls, aligning with ROKA’s strategic goals. 
  • Asset Protection: Protect company assets through rigorous internal controls and active risk management, ensuring the safeguarding of resources. 
  • Audit Management: Oversee all internal and external audit processes, maintaining transparency and regulatory compliance. 
  • Accounting Operations Oversight: Lead all accounting operations, including financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, and cost accounting, to ensure accurate and timely financial insights. 
  • Financial Forecasting and Budgeting: Collaborate with senior leadership on the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing insightful variance analysis to guide and support strategic decision-making. 
  • Financial Compliance: Ensure timely closure of monthly and annual financial statements while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. 
  • Team Development: Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and cross-functional collaboration. 
  • Tax Compliance: Collaborate with tax advisors to manage and ensure compliance with federal, state, and international tax regulations. 
  • Strategic Support for Operations Scaling: Lead strategic financial analysis initiatives to support ROKA’s growth and operational scaling efforts effectively. 
  • Financial Reporting Optimization: Develop and refine financial reporting capabilities, identifying opportunities for process improvements through automation, standardization, and innovative technology. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various departments to support adherence to department budgets and promote financial accountability across teams. 
  • Data-Driven Insights: Analyze financial data and reports, providing actionable recommendations to improve financial performance. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with relevant government regulations, staying informed of changing requirements and ensuring ROKA’s financial practices meet or exceed standards. 
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.  Active CPA license strongly preferred. 
  • Experience in Direct to Consumer or Consumer Packaged Goods business is helpful.   
  • NetSuite experience strongly preferred but not required.  Advanced experience in Excel is extremely helpful. 
  • Hands on leader with a player / coach mentality & ability 
  • Impeccable business judgment, with the ability to motivate colleagues and collaborate effectively to help influence senior leadership  
  • Comfort working independently with external partners. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment; must manage multiple tasks and juggle several urgent demands at any given point, while adapting to changing priorities 
  • Deep knowledge of accounting and financial management principles and procedures 
  • Excellent oral and written communication, analytical and decision-making skills 
  • Able to present complex financial data easily with graphs, charts and spreadsheets 
  • Excellent quantitative, written, and presentation skills; innovative, organized, thorough 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. 

Work Location

ROKA is located in Austin, TX, USA. The Company is on a hybrid work schedule.  Candidates must be prepared to work on-site as often as needed per the Department’s business needs.  Remote candidates will not be considered for this position.
