Taryn James is an experienced higher education professional currently serving as the Director of Student Life at Rockhurst University since August 2019. In this role, Taryn oversees essential programs such as the first-year experience and Summer Orientation Advising and Registration, while also providing guidance for registered student organizations and managing the Student Activity Fee Budgeting Committee. Previous positions include Assistant Director of Student Life, where oversight of the Student Activities Board and Fraternity and Sorority Life was a key responsibility, and Admissions Coordinator for the Advanced College Credit Program. Taryn has also held leadership roles in National Service Fraternity and Sorority, gaining substantial experience in training and mentoring chapter consultants and providing educational programming. Taryn holds a Master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration from the University of Central Missouri and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Iberian Studies from Boise State University.
