Rich Besser currently serves as the President of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a position held since 2017. Prior to this role, Rich Besser was a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health from 2010 to 2018 and served as the Chief Health and Medical Editor at ABC News from 2009 to 2017. Rich Besser's extensive experience at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention spanned from 1991 to 2009, including roles such as Acting Director and Director of the Coordinating Office for Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response. Additionally, Rich Besser held various positions at the University of California San Diego, Johns Hopkins Medicine, and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, covering numerous leadership and medical roles. Rich Besser earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Williams College.
