Mervyn Govender is an experienced professional in the field of process control systems and electrical engineering, currently serving as Portfolio Demand and Shaping Manager at Rio Tinto since April 2022. Mervyn previously held various positions at Richards Bay Minerals, including Acting Technology Manager and PCS Superintendent for Mining, responsible for overseeing a team and managing technical projects. Mervyn's expertise spans multiple roles in plant maintenance, project engineering, and system integration across several companies, including RBCT and Autotronix. Mervyn holds a BSc in Computer Science with a focus on Information Technology Management from the University of South Africa, as well as a degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Instrumentation and Control from Durban University of Technology.
