Jeffrey Zhang

Jeffrey Zhang has worked in a variety of roles since 2014. In 2014, they were a Computer Software Intern at Vercury Inc., where they researched digital watermarking algorithms and developed a method to measure the entropy of an image. In 2015, they returned to Vercury Inc. as a Computer Vision Intern, where they developed two new robust algorithms against print-scan attack and researched image search algorithms. In 2016, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of California, Berkeley, where they worked on ultrasound and MRI image segmentation and developed an initial pipeline for MRI bone segmentation. Jeffrey also published a first-authored paper on fully automated echocardiogram interpretation in the scientific journal Circulation. In 2018, they became a PhD Candidate in Computer Vision at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where they were a research assistant advised by Prof. David Forsyth and worked on generating textual explanations for network decisions on VQA tasks. In 2019, they were a Research Intern at Tencent America, where they worked on image/video caption grounding and improved grounding from the state-of-the-art paper Grounded Video Description. In 2020, they were an Applied Scientist Intern at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where they researched noisy/missing labels, interpretability, and identifying confounding factors in machine learning. Jeffrey also developed a method to better visualize network attention and identify confounding factors for network decisions, which they applied to medical datasets. Additionally, they are currently Co-Founder/COO of Revery.AI, a YCombinator S21 Startup that creates inclusive technology to allow users to visualize any outfit/combinations instantly to enhance the online shopping experience.

Jeffrey Zhang began their educational journey in 2010 when they attended Amador Valley High School, graduating in 2014. Jeffrey then moved on to the University of California, Berkeley, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2018. After that, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Vision at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is currently enrolled in the program. In 2021, they also participated in the Y Combinator S21 program.
