Amy Julia Harris is an investigative reporter for the Metro Desk at The New York Times since June 2019. Previously, Harris worked at The Center for Investigative Reporting, holding roles focused on religion and criminal justice since January 2015 and serving as a housing reporter from October 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, Harris was the education reporter for The Charleston Gazette, covering K-12 and higher education in West Virginia from October 2011 to October 2012. Harris also contributed to The Seattle Times as a general assignment reporter in the Metro section during the summer of 2011, where an investigative project examined illegal marijuana farms on tribal land. Harris earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Government from Stanford University in 2011.
