Brian Kushner

Brian Kushner, Ph.D., has more than 35 years of experience as a leader at telecom, media, manufacturing, consumer products, technology and defense companies, including serving as director, chief executive officer or chief restructuring officer of more than 30 public and private firms.

In addition to his role on the Resideo Board of Directors, Kushner is a senior managing director at FTI Consulting Inc. and leads FTI’s private capital practice. He also co-leads the technology practice; the aerospace, defense and government contracting practice; and the activism and M&A solutions practice. FTI is a diversified international consulting firm with more than 5,000 employees in 30 countries. In 2008, FTI acquired CXO LLC, a firm Kushner co-founded, in 2002.

During his career, Kushner has been involved in optimizing every aspect of corporate performance, including strategy, M&A, revenue enhancement, customer service and support, cost reduction, new product introduction, supply chain management and complex restructuring. He currently serves on other company boards including Cumulus Media Inc. (NASDAQ: CMLS), Mudrick Capital Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ: MUDS), Thryv Inc. (f/k/a Dex Media Inc.), Gibson Brands Inc. and Zodiac Systems. He previously served on the boards of Sage Telecom, Luxfer Holdings PLC (NYSE: LXFR), Damovo PLC, EveryWare Global (now The Oneida Group) and many others.

Kushner received B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University in applied and engineering physics, the latter with a concentration in electrical engineering. He was the 1997 recipient of KPMG’s information, communications and entertainment “Entrepreneur of the Year” award in Austin for industry leadership in entrepreneurial companies of less than 200 employees. Kushner also served as the December 2014 commencement speaker for the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin and was inducted into the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin’s Hall of Honor in 2018.
