Gabriela holds a MS and Ph.D. degree in Health Sciences from PontifÃcia Universidade Católica do Paraná, Brazil. She joined RRI in 2019-2020 as part of her doctoral course and rejoined the team in 2022 as a Research Scientist. During her scientific career, she studied the pathogenesis of renal anemia and explored the role of uremic toxicity, hypoxemia, and oxidative stress in the red blood cells of hemodialysis patients. Currently, she brings her biochemistry and cell biology background to laboratory studies at RRI, using advanced techniques such as mass spectrometry and flow cytometry. She is motivated to rigorously apply the scientific method and to test hypotheses to advance research in biomedical sciences.
