Mitch Gates is an experienced visual effects professional currently serving as the Head of Computer Graphics at Refuge Visual Effects since June 2024, with a focus on creature and character work. Previous roles include VFX Supervisor and CG Supervisor at Crafty Apes VFX, DFX Supervisor at Ghost VFX, and CG Supervisor at Picture Shop Post. Mitch has also held positions as Digital Effects Supervisor and CG Supervisor at FuseFX and served as a CG Supervisor at Encore Hollywood. Additional experience includes CG Supervising roles at Frantic Films and Prime Focus, as well as a tenure as Senior Technical Director at Digital Dimension. Mitch began a career in visual effects as a Visual Effects Artist at Encore Hollywood after completing the Dick Smith SPFX Make-up Course from 1993 to 1997.
