Erika Nelson is an accomplished legal expert with extensive experience at Red Hat since March 2005, where current responsibilities include serving as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel, leading a team focused on Products, Technology, AI, Privacy, Security, and Open Source. Previous roles at Red Hat include Director of Partner Ecosystem & Product Counsel, Senior Director, Assistant General Counsel, Principal Commercial Counsel, Senior Commercial Counsel for Business Units, Commercial Counsel, and APAC Regional Counsel, demonstrating a strong track record in managing legal support for product portfolios, strategic partnerships, and advising on complex legal issues. Prior to Red Hat, Erika Nelson worked as an Associate at Foley & Lardner, gaining experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate formation, and various other legal areas. Erika Nelson holds a BA in Political Science, Theater, and Spanish from the University of Vermont and a J.D. from the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco.
