Chandra Shekhar Silori serves as Deputy Executive Director at RECOFTC, overseeing the coordination of country programs across eight nations in South and South-East Asia, while fostering collaboration between the headquarters and local operations. With extensive experience in program management, Chandra's roles at RECOFTC have evolved from Senior Program Officer to Project Coordinator, where contributions included establishing project coordination offices and networking with governmental and project partners for REDD+ initiatives. Prior to RECOFTC, Chandra worked as an ASIA Fellow at the Regional Community Forestry Training Centre, focused on biodiversity conservation and poverty alleviation research in Thailand. Chandra's career began with The Energy and Resources Institute, where leadership in forestry and biodiversity projects, alongside successful fundraising efforts, marked significant achievements. Earlier academic and research roles included positions at the Gujarat Institute of Desert Ecology and the Wildlife Institute of India, leading to a PhD in Wildlife Science and a strong educational foundation in ecology and botany from prestigious institutions.
