Kat Newel has a diverse work experience in various industries, including real estate, technology, consulting, and insurance. Kat is currently the VP Business Innovation at the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. Prior to this, they worked at Newel Corp as a Principal Consultant, where they provided management consulting services and mentored start-ups in various industries. Kat also held multiple roles at Venzee Technologies Inc., including VP of Technology, Director of Products, and Head of Products, where they led software engineering departments and managed technology strategy and application development. At Navarik, they worked as a Product Manager/Owner/Business Analyst, where they spearheaded product development and created business-critical workflow systems. Kat also gained experience at ICBC as a Senior Functional Analyst, where they focused on implementing third-party claims systems. Additionally, they worked at IBM Global Business Services, where they held roles such as SAP Consultant/Business Analyst, Financial Business Analyst, CRM Consultant, and Project Assistant, and gained experience in leadership, system analysis, and project coordination.

Kat Newel has a diverse educational background that spans multiple fields of study. Kat completed their Executive MBA at the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University from 2019 to 2021, with a focus on business. Prior to this, they attended Copenhagen Business School from 2000 to 2006, where they earned their M.Sc. in Business Administration and Computer Science. Their studies during this period included IT-strategy and business strategy.

Earlier in their educational journey, from 1997 to 2000, Kat Newel also attended Copenhagen Business School and obtained their B.Sc. in Business Administration and Computer Science. Their coursework during this time covered various areas such as business analysis, project management, HR, programming, networks, operating systems, and software development life cycle (SDLC).

Additionally, Kat Newel has obtained several certifications to enhance their skill set. These certifications include Data Analytics Skills Camp - Finance from the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University and Python - Core Data Analysis, Finance from The Marquee Group, both obtained in June 2021. Kat also completed courses such as Effective Intercultural Communication from the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University in April 2021, Building a Financial Model from The Marquee Group in July 2020, Marketing Essentials from Harvard Business School in July 2020, Customer Focus from Harvard Business School in June 2020, and PMC III from Pragmatic Marketing in December 2016.
