Samantha Selolwane

Sam is a passionate music executive with over 20 years of experience and a proud graduate of Morgan State University. Sam has been an integral part of building the urban radio campaigns for artists such as: Chris Brown, H.E.R., SZA, Usher, Miguel, Jazmine Sullivan, Davido, ASAP Ferg, ASAP Rocky, Khalid, G-Eazy, Alicia Keys as well as new comers Doja Cat, Mulatto and Foushee just to name a few. Industry awards include: Billboard Women In Music Executives (2020), Variety Magazine New York Women’s Impact Report (2020), Variety Magazine Hitmaker of the Year (2018), Billboard Magazine Top 40 Under 40: Music’s Top Young Power Player (2015). ASCAP “Women Behind The Music” (2014).

Sam began her career as an on-air radio personality at her college station WEAA-88.9 FM. She began hosting her own Friday night Hip-Hop show called Strictly Hip-Hop before landing an internship with the local Radio-One station in the market 92Q – WERQ, FM. She went from intern to Assistant Music Director and she maintained her on-air shift hosting a weekly hip-hop show called The Rap Attack.

After years with 92Q, Sam went to the record promotion side. Her first stop was with an independent promotion company called Active Industry Research (A.I.R.). Under the leadership of industry veteran Tony Anderson, she honed her promotions skills which caught the attention of Jive Records. In February of 2005, she started her Sony journey with Jive Records as the Sr. National Director Of Urban Promotion. At Jive Records, her first artist radio campaign was with newcomer Chris Brown. His debut album Chris Brown garnered countless hit singles like “Run It”, Yo! Excuse Me Miss”, “Gimme Dat” and “Never the Right Time to Say Goodbye” and eventually went on to sell over 2MM copies. She also launched T-Pain’s debut album Rappa Ternt Singa which went on to also be RIAA Certified platinum. In February of 2020, Sam celebrated 15 years with Sony Music.
