Matthew Coolbaugh is an Associate in the Wilmington office with more than six years of defense experience in insurance coverage, commercial litigation and workers’ compensation cases.
Before joining the team at Rawle & Henderson, Mr. Coolbaugh served as an Associate at a Delaware law firm where he was negotiated solar options and leasing agreements for local farmers, drafted pleadings and discovery. He also drafted corporate formation documents and assisted in real estate and corporate transactions.
Mr. Coolbaugh also worked as an Associate at a Texas law firm where he defended clients in personal injury and property damage suits involving workplace injuries, trucking accidents, construction injuries, slips and falls, products liability and fatalities. He also successfully recruited, defended and deposed experts, parties, and corporate representatives in multimillion-dollar litigation matters.
A frequent writer, Mr. Coolbaugh has been featured in numerous legal publications. His works include a 2017 article published in the Texas Lawyer magazine entitled “Employees on Social Media: Avoiding Potential Litigation Traps.” He also serves as the Assistant Editor for News for the Bar, a subsection of the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Texas. He is a three-time recipient of the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award from the Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans group.
Mr. Coolbaugh is a 2015 graduate of the Baylor University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and served as the Associate Editor for the Baylor Law Review throughout his time at the university. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University.
