Caleb McClennen, Ph.D., serves as the President of Rare, where leadership focuses on programs and operations aimed at promoting sustainable change for people and nature across 60 countries. Previously, McClennen was the Vice President of Global Conservation at the Wildlife Conservation Society, overseeing initiatives related to oceans, climate, and livelihoods. As Executive Director of Marine Conservation at WCS, McClennen directed efforts to improve fisheries management and marine biodiversity protection. Additionally, McClennen has held academic positions as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University and played roles in marine policy and environmental advisory in the Marshall Islands. With a comprehensive background in marine science and environmental policy, McClennen holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Policy and Development Economics from The Fletcher School at Tufts University.
