Shakiba Morvarid has a varied work history in software engineering and GIS programming. Shakiba is currently a Senior Software Engineer at Raptive, and before that, was a Lead Software Engineer for Ford Motor Company and ANANTICS. Shakiba has also had experience as a Senior Software Engineer for RIIS LLC, a GIS Programmer for Apple and a Software QA Engineer for MATRIX Resources. Prior to that, they were a GIS Programming Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas at Dallas and a GIS Software Developer for the Center for GIS Innovation in Industry and Institutions (CG3i). Their earliest work experience was as a GIS Programmer for a civil engineering consulting firm. Throughout their career they have worked with a wide range of technologies including Java, AWS, React JS, Angular, Python, Spring Boot, Hibernate ORM, JavaScript, SQL, and ArcGIS.

Shakiba Morvarid earned a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering-Surveying from the University of Tehran in 2007-2012. Shakiba then pursued a Master's degree in Geospatial Information Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas from 2014 to 2016. Shakiba also obtained several certifications, including "Easy to Advanced Data Structures", "Introduction to TypeScript", "Learn Angular 4 from Scratch", "Going Places with Spatial Analysis", "Do-It-Yourself Geo Apps", and "The Location Advantage".
