Malcolm Macdonald has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Malcolm began their career as a Sales Assistant at Poundstretcher Ltd. in September 2010, where they worked until May 2014. Following this, they joined Home Bargains as a Sales Assistant in June 2014 and remained in this role until August 2018. In 2020, Malcolm joined Randox and initially worked as a Molecular Scientist from June 2020 to October 2021. Malcolm then advanced to the position of Deputy Laboratory Manager from September 2021 to February 2022. Currently, Malcolm is serving as a Research and Development Scientist at Randox, starting in January 2022.

Malcolm Macdonald pursued their Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Heriot-Watt University from 2014 to 2018. Malcolm then proceeded to Queen's University Belfast where they completed their Master of Science (MSc) in Parasitology and Pathogen Biology from 2018 to 2019.
