James Hepburn has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. James currently works as a Research Chemist at Randox, a position they have held since January 2020. Prior to this, they worked at Ulster Carpets as a Colour Chemist from January 2015 to January 2020.

Before their time at Ulster Carpets, they were a Research Assistant at Queen's University Belfast in October 2014. James also served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the same institution from January 2013 to July 2014 and from June 2011 to December 2012.

Prior to their work at Queen's University Belfast, James worked at the University of Strathclyde. There, they held various roles including Postdoctoral Research Fellow from April 2009 to October 2010, and Research Assistant from October 2007 to March 2009 and from June 2006 to October 2007.

James pursued their postgraduate degree (PhD) at Ciba from an unknown start date until 2005. James began their academic journey at Glasgow Caledonian University in September 1998 and ended in September 2002.

James Hepburn received their Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) in Chemistry with I.T. & Instrumentation from Glasgow Caledonian University in the years 1998 to 2002. Following that, they pursued their education at the University of Strathclyde from 2002 to 2007, achieving a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physical Organic Chemistry.
