Christopher Hartl

Principal Bioinformatics Scientist at Rancho BioSciences

Christopher Hartl has a diverse work experience in the field of bioinformatics. Christopher is currently working as the Director of Bioinformatics at Epigenome Technologies. Prior to that, they held multiple roles at Rancho BioSciences, including Principal Bioinformatics Scientist and Principal Scientist & Bioinformatics Platform Manager. During their time at Rancho BioSciences, they oversaw the development of internal data analysis toolkits and platforms and identified epigenetic signatures of chemotherapeutic agents. Christopher also applied unsupervised and supervised learning techniques to high-throughput flow cytometry data and developed apps and workflows for bacterial genome assembly and annotation. Before joining Rancho BioSciences, Christopher was a Ph.D. candidate in Bioinformatics at UCLA, where they focused on the neurogenetics of Autism and ASD. Christopher developed methods to identify molecular endophenotypes and studied the convergent neurodevelopmental pathways implicated by disruptions in these endophenotypes. Christopher also has experience as an intern at Med Data Quest, where they worked on developing software tools for RNA-seq analysis and detecting large structural variations. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at SynapDx, where they developed machine learning pipelines for the early diagnosis of ASD. Christopher also worked at The Broad Institute as an Associate Computational Biologist and Bioinformatics Analyst, where they delivered informatics pipelines and developed analytical tools for the discovery and analysis of disease-linked variation. Christopher's early work experience includes a role as a Developer at Citeline, Inc. Overall, Christopher Hartl has a strong background in bioinformatics, with expertise in diverse areas such as genomics, epigenomics, machine learning, and neurogenetics.

Christopher Hartl completed their education in a chronological order. Christopher attended Harvard University from 2005 to 2009, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Mathematics. Christopher later pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at UCLA from 2014 to 2019, specializing in the field of Bioinformatics.
