Kaila Nishikawa is an accomplished undergraduate research assistant at Hellerstein Labs, University of California, Berkeley, focusing on short-term protein synthesis through heavy water incorporation. In addition to research roles, Kaila serves as the Director of Professional Development for the Food Association at Berkeley and heads data analytics for The Berkeley Alternative Protein Project, contributing to the PISCES project on alternative seafood products. Leadership experience includes serving as Vice President of Finance for The Berkeley Alt. Protein Project, aimed at promoting sustainable food systems. Responsibilities also extend to marketing roles at Quokka Brew, Drink Perfect Inc., and Converse, where Kaila developed and implemented marketing strategies and campaigns. Kaila holds a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular & Cell Biology and Nutritional Science from the University of California, Berkeley, with prior education from Carlmont High School and San Mateo Nippon Gakuyen.
