James Murphy is an experienced communications professional with a diverse background across various sectors. Currently serving as the Director of External Affairs for the Queensland Government since June 2023, James is responsible for managing media, social media, and online teams. Previously, James held roles such as Head of Communications for QBE Insurance, Vice President of Global Communications at MetLife Investment Management, and Manager of Media Relations for Accenture’s Financial Services division. James's earlier positions include consulting for BlackRock and leading communications at J.P. Morgan and Sun Hung Kai Financial in the Asia Pacific region. James began a career in journalism with roles at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Prime Television, following a Bachelor’s degree in Arts with a focus on Journalism from Queensland University of Technology.
