Derek Zomerman is a research professional at Quantiam Technologies Inc. since October 2018, focusing on advanced materials research. Prior experience includes serving as a graduate student researcher at the University of Saskatchewan from September 2016 to September 2018, where Derek conducted morphological studies on organic photovoltaics. Additional roles include being a teaching assistant at the University of Alberta, mentoring first-year chemistry students, and working as a research assistant on the synthesis and characterization of phosphorescent tellurophene materials. Derek's early career involved several positions as a journeyman welder across multiple companies and a lift operator at Big White Ski Resort. Educational qualifications comprise a Master of Science in Materials Chemistry from the University of Saskatchewan and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Alberta, along with a Journeyman Certificate in Welding Technology from NAIT.
