Sheryl Murphy began their work experience in 1984 as an Office Manager at Abbott-Weaver & Associates, Inc. Sheryl then worked as a Product Manager and Commissioned Sales at Macy's from 1986 to 1990. From 1990 to 2001, they served as a Project Manager in In Flight Service & Passenger Sales at Delta Air Lines. In 2014, they joined Upland Analytics, L.L.C. as a Project Manager and worked until 2015. Sheryl then joined Credit Risk Management Analytics, L.L.C. as a Project Manager from 2015 to 2017. From 2017 to 2020, they worked as a Project Manager at Planet Studio. In 2019, they became an Operations Manager at Qualtik, where they currently work. Additionally, Sheryl had roles in direct sales as a Franchise Owner at The Juice Plus+ Company from 2003, and as a Market Partner at Monat Global from 2019 to 2020.

Sheryl Murphy earned their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Marketing from The University of Georgia from 1984 to 1988. Sheryl then pursued further education and obtained a Master's Certificate in Project Management from ESI International and George Washington University from 1998 to 2000.

In addition to their formal education, Sheryl has also obtained several certifications. In February 2022, they received a "Building a Culture of Continuous Improvement to Thrive in the Covid-Era Landscape Workshop Badge" from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education. In April 2020, they obtained certifications in "Learning DocuSign" and "Microsoft Teams Essential Training" from LinkedIn.
