Abdurrahman Ali

Head Of Workplace Health And Safety at QIC

Abdurrahman Ali has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Most recently, they worked at QIC as the Head of Workplace Health and Safety, starting in July 2020. Prior to that, they served as the Director of ASALI GROUP PTY LTD since November 2017. From 2015 to 2017, Abdurrahman was an active member of the Land Transport Safety Sub Committee at IOGP, where they contributed to safety content and provided guidance for the oil and gas industry. Abdurrahman also played a role in the development of a self-assessment assurance toolkit for Land Transportation Recommended Practice.

Before IOGP, Abdurrahman was involved with the National Road Safety Partnership Program as a Steering Committee Member from August 2014 to November 2017. Abdurrahman offered advice and direction on road safety programs and initiatives in Australian workplaces, reviewed various publications, and co-facilitated the development of a 3-year strategic plan.

Abdurrahman also worked at Origin Energy, starting in July 2010. Abdurrahman'sroles there included Principal Advisor - Occupational Health and Safety (Corporate), HSSE & Risk, Systems and Performance Manager (International Development Group), HSE Performance, Capability and Systems Manager (Upstream Oil & Gas), and Senior H&S Advisor (Upstream Oil & Gas). These positions allowed him to gain expertise in occupational health and safety and risk management.

Before joining Origin Energy, Abdurrahman was a Senior Safety Advisor at BP's Bulwer Island Refinery from July 2005 to February 2010. Abdurrahman also had a brief stint at the Department of Education and Training (Queensland) as a Senior Consultant for OHS & Workers Compensation from August 2004 to February 2005.

Earlier in their career, Abdurrahman worked at Queensland Rail, where they held the positions of Team Leader - Safety and Safety Systems Analyst (Passenger Services Group). Abdurrahman'sresponsibilities included providing safety-related advice and support, developing emergency response plans, and delivering services to rollingstock maintenance and train crew operations.

Abdurrahman's career in occupational hygiene began at Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, where they worked as an Inspector from September 2000 to September 2001. Prior to that, they gained experience as a Safety Advisor at BP's Bulwer Island Refinery from July 1998 to July 2000.

Abdurrahman Ali has pursued their educational endeavors at QUT (Queensland University of Technology), where they completed a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science in Occupational Health and Safety. Additionally, they also obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science, Honours, from the same university.
