Mingyu Kim serves as the Head of Research at IMO KOREA - Korea Maritime Cooperation Center since May 2019, while concurrently holding the position of Research Professor at Pusan National University since May 2018, focusing on energy efficiency and safety of ships. Previously, Mingyu Kim worked as a Research Associate at the University of Strathclyde from April 2014 to March 2018, contributing to the SCC (Shipping in Changing Climates) EPSRC Project on ship resistance and emissions. From January 2001 to February 2014, Mingyu Kim held roles as a Senior Engineer and Senior Researcher at Hyundai Heavy Industries, specializing in ship design and resistance analysis. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Ship Hydrodynamics from the University of Ulsan and MSc and BSc degrees in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and Aerospace Engineering, respectively, from Pusan National University.
