Laura Wilker

Treasurer at PRSA-NY

Laura Wilker has over 20 years of experience in communications and public relations. Laura is currently the Treasurer at PRSA-NY, and previously served as the Head of Resiliency and Incident Communications at BNY Mellon and the Chief Communications Officer at the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

Wilker has a proven track record in transforming global crisis and cyber communications, establishing best practices, developing global policies and procedures, and streamlining disparate approaches. During COVID-19, they led all internal communications for 50,000+ employees at BNY Mellon, positioning the bank as a trusted, caring employer. Laura also drove external communications to clients and vendors, positioning the bank as a trusted, high-quality partner.

At IFAC, Wilker was brought in to create a world-class, integrated global communications team and a network of external agencies to enhance the image and visibility of the organization. Laura successfully drove external awareness and reputation via high-impact media coverage, new websites and social media channels, senior leadership speaking engagements, thought leadership, and large global events. Laura also informed and engaged employees through a new intranet site, videos, written communications, and town hall meetings. Leveraging member institutes around the world, they were able to amplify and localize messages.

After completing their undergraduate degrees at the University of Pennsylvania, Laura Wilker pursued an executive education at Harvard Business School in the area of authentic leadership development. Laura then returned to Penn to complete their BASc in computer science. Currently, they are working in finance.
