Zahra Hussein

Provincial Lead, Primary Care - Child Health BC at PHSA

Zahra Hussein has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and roles. Zahra worked at the Provincial Health Services Authority as the Provincial Lead for Primary Care - Child Health BC from February 2019. Zahra also served at Vancouver Public Library as the Chair of the Services, Finance, Human Resources Committee from January 2021 to December 2022 and as a Member Board of Trustees from January 2019 to December 2022. Prior to that, they were the Injury Prevention Program Lead at Vancouver General Hospital from July 2013 to February 2019. Zahra also worked at Vancouver Coastal Health as the Practice Support Program (PSP) Leader from July 2011 to July 2013. Their earliest work experience was at Interior Health Authority, where they served as the Senior Tobacco Reduction Coordinator from May 2007 to July 2011 and as a Community Integration Facilitator from October 2010 to April 2011.

Zahra Hussein has a diverse education history. Zahra completed their Professional Master of Business Administration (PMBA) at UBC Sauder School of Business from 2019 to 2021. During this time, they also obtained a Certificate in Managing in Crisis from the same institution. In 2020, Zahra participated in intensive programs at Yale University's Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking, where they focused on Innovation From The Inside. Additionally, they completed a program at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on Gender, Equity, and Leadership in the 21st Century. Zahra also participated in a Global Network Week at UBC Sauder School of Business, focusing on Sustainable Development Goals, Cities, and Inclusive Prosperity. Prior to their business education, Zahra earned a Master of Public Health from Simon Fraser University from 2005 to 2007. Zahra also holds a Bachelor of Food and Nutrition from The University of British Columbia, specializing in Dietetics. In the future, Zahra plans to improve their leadership skills through a course in Facilitation Skills for Leaders at UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies in 2023.
